There’s beauty, history, lore, and a lot of fun in store when you sign up for an outing with Art’s Dune Tours. The trips are a wonderful way to see into the beautiful reaches of Cape Cod National Seashore Park.
Art’s Dune Tours, based in Provincetown, Massachusetts, is a family company that was started in 1946 with a 1936 Ford Woody and the ingenuity of Art Costa. Today they rely on a fleet of air-conditioned Chevrolet Suburbans to provide a comfy ride over mounds of sand.
A variety of tours of different lengths and interests are available starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing through to a sunset tour at approximately 5:30 p.m. Here are a few examples of what is available. For a complete listing, be sure to check out Art’s dune Tours website.
Daily Tours are one hour long and cover the peaked hill bars historic district sand dunes on Provincetown Cape Cod Seashore’s protected lands. Adult/$32, child/$20
Land ‘N Lake is a 3½ to 4-hour tour that includes lunch and explores the history, ecology and geology of the lake. Bonus: kayaking o Old East Harbor Lake. Adult/$149, Child/$93
Art W/Art’s is a 6-hour excursion that delves into the artists, dune shacks, history and culture of Provincetown artists. Includes watercolor class with local artist, and more artsy fun. Adult/$200, child/$165
Sunset Tours with Dinner offer an incredible combo of majestic sky and quintessential food—a Cape Cod clam bake. Adult/$111.06, child/$89.06
