About The Whalewalk Inn
Located in Eastham, Massachusetts

History of the Inn
Built in 1825 for whaling Captain Henry Harding, the main building and land later became Whalewalk Farm in the early 1900s under the Kent family's ownership. It was converted to a bed and breakfast in 1953. Since then, multiple buildings have been added, and it has been thoughtfully updated and redecorated, now standing as one of the Outer Cape's top lodging destinations.

History of the Area
Eastham, MA a quiet town on the outer arm of Cape Cod, holds a rich historical legacy. Long before European settlement, it was home to the Nauset tribe of the Wampanoag people, who lived sustainably off the land and sea for thousands of years. Their knowledge of the region later helped early settlers survive.
In 1620, the Mayflower anchored near present-day First Encounter Beach, where the Pilgrims met the Native Americans for the first time. Eastham was settled by colonists from Plymouth in 1644 and incorporated in 1651. Originally encompassing Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown, the town thrived on fishing, farming, saltworks, and shipbuilding-becoming an important part of Cape Cod's early maritime economy.
