Celebrating History At Cape Cod Maritime Days

The high season kicks off next month with Cape Cod Maritime Days, May 1-31, 2018. Photo of a Cape Cod lighthouse with fluffy white clouds. This annual Cape-wide fest is a wonderful celebration of our area’s rich maritime history, and offers a wide range of events.

Here are a few of the highlights this year:
Cape Cod’s Largest Scrimshaw Show at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum in Hyannis.
Historic tours, including ones of Highlight Lighthouse in Truro, Chatham Lighthouse, and Nauset Lighthouse.
Guided Kayak Excursions and Barnstable Harbor Eco-tours.
And a sure sign that summer is on its way—the annual Figawi Race Weekend, a prestigious regatta on Memorial Weekend. It draws thousands of sailors for the charity race from Cape Cod to Nantucket, and is always super festive and fun.

One new thing this year is the Maritime Meandering Tours of Cape Cod, four self-guided, downloadable maritime tours, one for each area of the Cape. The tours provide numbered trails to follow, offering visitors a great snippet of all there is to see and do, not only this weekend, but on any Cape Cod visit.

Plan now to attend Cape Cod Maritime Days—and to make it even more special, come stay in the former home of a whaling captain, right here at Whalewalk Inn! Be sure to call soon to book.
