One of the best art galleries on Cape Cod—and perhaps in New England—is located just down the road from us in Orleans. Addison Art Gallery is a gem of a place that has become a year-round destination for art lovers.
Addison Art Gallery is housed in a charming old red house, with rooms inside that invite meandering. It has a reputation for top quality art from a diverse group of artists featuring a wide range of subject matter. Whether you’re a serious collector or just someone who likes to poke around, you’ll feel comfortable here.
Many of the gallery’s visitors and artists are inspired by Edward Hopper and come to visit the sites he painted. So throughout the year Addison Art Gallery hosts “After Hopper” events and exhibitions featuring works created by contemporary artists who found inspiration in this famous New England artist. The gallery’s special exhibitions are always a treat, and if you can make it to one of the openings, do. They offer a great opportunity to visit with the artists.
In addition to these exhibits at the gallery, owner Helen Katherine Addison has curated a special exhibit that will be at Cape Cod National Seashore Visitors Center this coming February. Outermost Inspiration Exhibition will feature new works by area and national artists that capture the beauty of our Cape Cod area.
