A delicious melding of two cuisines—Israeli and Thai—define the creative dishes at ABBA, and keep happy locals and visitors coming back for more.
Located in Orleans, about a ten-minute drive from Whalewalk Inn, Abba restaurant exudes a warm Middle-Eastern vibe with plush pillows on benches, pretty tea glass candles on tables, and enticing aromas wafting through the dining rooms. Chef Erez Pinhas, who is from Israel, does a masterful job recreating the flavors of his homeland, adding in Thai elements—his sous chef is from Thailand—and making them truly his own. The popular signature dish, Seafood Pad Thai—a mélange with lobster, scallops, shrimp, and more—is a perfect example of this creative cooking.
The menu offers a wide range in flavors, starting with great appetizers. Selections include a tasty falafel with a Tahini and mango pickle sauce; or fried goat cheese with roasted beets and mache with citrus vinaigrette. Fans of duck will definitely want to try ABBA’s version a medium rare breast served with gnocchi and broccolini in a sate sauce that is near perfection. Spicy rack of lamb with a glazed fruit couscous is another standout.
Every dish is a delight, all the way to the supurb desserts. Warm walnut date pudding cake with toffee sauce and ginger ice cream and caramel cheesecake with poached pears are just two of the tempting choices.
Abba has a pleasant, though small, bar area and a wide-ranging wine list.
