It’s hard to imagine, but the holiday season is just around the corner! Here on Cape Cod it kicks off with one of our favorite events, the Annual Glassblowers Christmas beginning November 13 and continuing through December 30, 2017.
Presented by the Sandwich Glass Museum, the event features hundreds of beautiful and unique glass ornaments made by some of the finest glass artists both in our region and across the country. Visitors can view these works of art on Christmas trees decorating the Contemporary Gallery. It’s always a magical display and one that is assured to put you in the holiday spirit!
In addition to viewing ornaments, you can also purchase gorgeous glass ornaments for your own tree or as gifts in the Museum’s gift shop. Ornaments include delicate teardrops, two or three-bump drops, glass seahorses, and other exquisite designs.
If you’d like to see how the magic is created, make time to take in a glassblowing demonstration. The up-close 20-minute sessions, which take place every hour on the hour, provide a fascinating look at how glass is turned into works of art.
Also worth a look, the Museum’s special exhibition, Marble Mania: From Agates to Zebras, a display that is sure to bring out the kid in us all. For more on the museum, check out our February, 2017 blog.
