4 Reasons To Take A Winter Day Trip to Cape Cod

Wintertime is a favorite time for locals here on Cape Cod. Things move at a slower pace and everyone feels a little freer to take time and relax. It’s a wonderful time for a day trip from Boston.

Catch up on movies. The Historic Orpheum Theater in Chatham is a classic from the days of silent film. Beautifully refurbished, it now shows first-run films and has a café so you can dine before or after, and sip a wine or beer while watching the movie.

It’s oyster season. Months with “r’s” are considered the best for oysters, so come indulge! Try the Wicked Oyster in nearby Wellfleet—a local fave. Also there, is the Bookstore Restaurant. Oysters here never touch ice—they come fresh from the restaurant’s oyster beds. Or head to Hyannis, where The Naked Oyster offers a raw bar, oysters baked, and even an oyster shooter.

Kings Highway. After the holidays is a more leisurely time to travel this historic road. Stop in the towns along the way, stroll along the main streets, and enjoy a visit with the locals.
