Cape Cod Playhouse in 90th Year of Performances

There is still time left this summer for you to catch a show at the Cape Cod Playhouse, the oldest professional summer theater in America. The gem of performance is located in Dennis, just a 15-minute drive from the B&B.

Started in 1920, the theater was a way to employ actors from New York and other metropolitan areas where theaters closed for the summer—no air conditioning in those days! Many well-known stars, including Basil Rathbone, Bette Davis, Henry Fonda, and Humphrey Bogart made appearance at the theater on their way to making it big in movies. Today, visitors can see well-known theater actors, as well as this era’s up-and-comers in always-superb productions.

Here’s what on the schedule for the rest of the season.

August 9 – 20, 2016
Cabaret. The enticing musical that won 12 Tony awards and 8 Oscars takes place in the infamous Kit Kat Club. As the emcee instructs you, “leave your troubles outside,” and get swept up in the story of Berlin during the rise of Nazism.

August 23 – September 3, 2016
The Mousetrap. On a snowy night, newlyweds invite a group of strangers into their guesthouse, only to discover one of them is a murderer. This Agatha Christie suspense-filled drama will keep you on edge till it’s final twist!

September 13 – 17, 2016
Free Speech (While Supplies Last).  Satirical political humor and irreverence in a topical news show format at its best … brought to you by Second City comedy stars coming to the Cape directly from their sell out shows in Chicago!  Special end-of-season pricing available ($29-49).
